Gautom Roy and Siddique Ahmed took oath a new cabinet ministers on Tuesday. Governor PB Acharya administered the duo the oath of office and secrecy at a brief function at the Raj Bhawan in the morning. Chief minister Tarun Gogoi along with his cabinet colleagues, APCC leaders and parliamentary secretaries attended the function. Gogoi sacked both of them last year.

NE gets mega food park at Tihu

Akhil snubs Modi, Gogoi

KMSS will launch a massive agitation across the state in protest against the Centre’s conspiracy to the common people with toll gate. AASU threatens massive agitation

An Assam Agitation like strike seems imminent in the state alleging the Centre’s conspiracy to make the historic Assam Accord redundant.AASU workers across the state stage dharna on Thursday in protest against the move to allow the Hindu Bangladeshi immigrants accept permanent residentship.Thousands of AASU leaders and workers staged day long dharna in the district and sub divisional headquaters threatening to resume the massive agitation to ensure that not even a single immigrants are allowed to stay here.AASU leaders in Guwahati told Assam Times that the Centre is trying to make the historic Accord merely a sheet of useless paper much to the major disappointment of the people.

Narrow escape for Gogoi

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi had a narrow escape on Thursday when the chopper carrying him to Tihu had an emergency landing at Borjhar air port.Gogfoi, who left fot Tihu at 11-30 to attend the mega food park opening ceremony at a chopper suddenly caught in a technical snag 7 minutes after it took off.Then the chopper landed back at the airport safely forcing the authorities to arrange another chopper for the chief minister to visit Tihu at 12-30 in the afternoon.  

House panel meets FINER

The parliamentary committee of home affairs shall personally look into the matter for the development of the North East Region. HSLC-AHM results on June 2

Belying all uncertainties, the state secondary education board is preparing to announce the results of the HSLC and AHM examinations on June 2. Sources told Assam Times the results would be available in district headquarters at 11 in the morning. These would be available in the official website from 11 in the morning. Notably, education minister Sarat Barbakatoky earlier made a faux pas that the SEBA would announce the results on May 5 to be contradicted by SEBA chairperson that the results would be available only by June 2.

Mynamar point of arms smuggle

  Assam police have gathered evidence that arms for the northeastern region come from Myanmar. According to DGP Khagen Sarma, the sea routes are no longer valid for the north east militants to smuggle arms. They have their criminals network for arms smuggling. Initially smuggled arms are from Myanmar come to Assam and other north eastern states via Bangladesh. 

ULFA, NDFB bosses in Myanmar!

Do you know the whereabouts of Paresh Baruah and IK Songbijit?  The ULFA Commander in chief is believed to have been roaming in China.According to police, the elusive ULFA boss still has camps in Myanmar along with other militant outfits of the north east.The intelligence agencies have tracked down Barua from the recent video clippings in mid-April - in their camps. Same it is in the case of the NDFB boss IK Songbijit who has been hiding in Myanmar.
