Electronic Media Forum Assam (EMFA) has reiterated its old demand for a special law to protect the media persons on duty across the country. The television media forum argued that the scribes, both from print and electronic media should get the protection under the special laws in the line of physicians on duty.“We have observed with dismay that more journalists today face physical attacks when they are on risky assignments around the country. Normal life in lower areas remained partially disrupted following a 12 hour bandh call by six non Bodo organizations on Thursday demanding ST status.The bandh which began at 6 in the morning evoked hardly any response in the Bodo dominated areas in Kokrajhar and Gossaigaon.Bus and train services remained uninterrupted in these areas. Same it was in the shops and markets, schools and colleges, banks and offices. The statewide bandh had mixed response in some particular areas in lower Assam.
