Devotees across the state are seeking divine help to wipe out the diabolic tentacles of terrorism, violence against woman across the nation when they are offering puja to the goddess Durga.
With fruits and flowers devotees in large number thronged the puja pendals early in the morning on Wednesday to catch a glimpse of the idols seeking a strength that can help the people to drive out the trouble mongering elements.
“I am seeking a divine strength to enable us to firmly deal with the disturbing elements. Without Her help it won’t be possible,” said Dharani Sarma who offered puja to the goddess from Bharalumukh area on Wednesday.
Rupa Chetri from Bhangagarh area wants Her help to keep at bay the violence against women. “She must help us end the violence against women. Let Her say no crime against women. This is a serious crime She needs to deal with.”
Ratna Goswami, a college teacher told Assam Times that she sought divine help and strength for the farmers, for the working class, for the doctors, teachers et al. “We have umpteen numbers of problems. Apart from insurgency we have problems of poverty, unemployment etc. We need Her help.”
