The 5th Jeevan Kite & River Festival kicks off with the theme "Brahmaputra Campaign" from January 1, 2016. This campaign is an effort to connect the urban generation with the river. The event will continue till January 7 at Rajaduwar Ghat, near Sukreswar Park, Guwahati. Kite flying, adventure sports, cultural shows are some attractions of the event.
Surface communication remained heavily disrupted after a heavy storm lashed parts of the state on Tuesday. The storm hit half of the state at 5 in the evening damaging houses and uprooting many trees on the roads.
Dipti Moran tops state civil service examination as the Assam Public Service Commission declared the resuls on Thursday. The commission has selected 60 candidates for ACS junior grade post while 90 have been selected for Assam police service. These are apart from 30 other for allied services.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi did an Arvind Kejriwal when he led a protest rally in Guwahati alleging centre's policy that would make the state more poor. Gogoi along with several other party leaders held a rally at Latashil playground on Tuesday. The government told that court that bail, if granted, would hamper the investigation which has reached its crucial stage.The Borkhola MLA was arrested on April 14 wee hours alleging her nexus with notorious car lifter Anil Chauhan.
