BP unified with BPF

In a well gesture of party strength of BPF ahead assembly election in Bodoland region of Assam, a grand unification of BPPF with BPF under the leadership of Rabiram Narzary, president of BPPF was held on SUnday at Tulungapuri Dotma if Lower Assam's Kokrajhar district. 

Narzary, was accompanied party general secretary and thousands of party activists and supporters, declared party's unified with BPF to create more development and unity among society in the region.  He said that his party come into unified to meet healthy and integrated through working of peace and prosperity. 

Hagrama Mohilary, BPF supremo and BTC chief, party MP, MLA, senior party leaders were also present on the unification function. 

It is to be noted that both Narzary and Mohilary factionised in BPPF and BPF party in 2005 after signing historical Bodo Accord in 2003. 

Mohilary has welcome Rabiram Narzary and party members in the meeting said that now his party become a grand unified. He also said that his party will score good result in the assembly election

Baarhoongkha, Guwahati play draw

Lower Assam outfits Baarhoongkha AC and Guwahati FC in their first leg of quarter final held at KDSA field today ended draw with 1-1 goal.Ashok Brahma of Baarhoongkha AC scored the goal in 16 minutes of the match but Lalrin Nunga of Guwahati FC equalized it in 51 minutes. Baarhoongkha AC will take on Guwahati FC in the second leg quarter final on July 12 at Guwahati.In today’s match, guests like the president and secretary of Assam Football Association Hemendra Nath Brahma, Ankur Dutta, BTC EM of Sports and Youth Welfare Doneswar Goyary, other EM-Rajiv Brahma, MLA Rakheswar Brahma, former Secretary of KDSA Nikunja Brahma and other sport personalities were present.

Bike lifters arrested

At least six bike lifters were arrested by police and fifteen bikes also recovered from various parts of the town in Kokrajhar district. According to a senior police officer in Kokrajhar told that the police stepped up to check bike lifting case that created resented among society in the Kokrajhar town since long years and six bike lifters were arrested since a week and recovered fifteen bikes which were lifted by thieves from the town. He also told that police will continue carry on its check against bike thieves.

AASU fets students

The All Assam Students Union ( AASU) felicitated the distinction passed out students in the HSLC'2015 examination at a function held at Science College auditorium today in Kokrajhar.  A total of 46 students from Kokrajhar district who were passed in first division with distinction, each was felicitated with traditional Phulam Gamocha, citation and gifts, was organised by Kokrajhar district unit of AASU. Dipanko Kumar Nath, president of the AASU graced as chief guest and felicitated passed out students. Nath in his speech said that the students union was working for the welfare of the students community in the state. Agril seeds distributed among farmers

Agriculture department distributed certified HYV Rice seed Swarna Sub-1 variety under National Food Security Mission (NFSM) Rice, 2015-16 among farmers at a function held at Agriculture training hall in Kokrajhar today. Former Assam minister and local MLA of Kokrajhar east Pramila Rani Brahma, BTC Principal Secretary AK Roy distributed the seeds among farmers of the district. The agriculture department distributed 1177 qwintols of  Swarna Sub-1  variety rice seeds among farmers to facilitate crops which  will cover up around 8 thousand farmers in  the district.The department also decided to distribute 120 quintol variety of Swarna Sub-1 under three...

NSLA cadre held

Security forces arrested a hardcore cadre of National Santhali Liberation Army (NSLA) today from Gopaljhora area under Bagribari police station in Kokrajhar district. Acting in tiptop information about hiding of militants, a joint team of Assam Police and Army carried out a search operation this afternoon and able to arrest a NSLA cadre.The cadre was identified as Sunil Hembrom. A 9 mm pistol, four live ammunition, a mobile handset was recovered from his possession, a senior police officer said.

2 golds, 1 silver in World Police Fairfax & Fire game

 Archer Binuma Brahma of Assam police has won 2 gold and one silver medal in the ongoing World Police Fairfax & Fire game being held at Virginia, USA which started from 27 June to 6 July, 2015. Bimuma won the golds in Field Target and Target events and collect the silver medal in 3D archery event.  

Gold medalist Laimwn Narzary feted

Why Bodo missing in NRC forms?

The Bodo people want NRC forms in their own language which would be comfortable for them. The demand was raised earlier. But only to be ignored.It forced the All Bodo Students Union on stage hunger strike for hours in Kokrajhar on Friday.  Hundreds of student activists backed by common people started staging dharna at Bodofa Park in the town from 5 in the morning. Protestors told Assam Times that Bodo is one of the 8th schedule language and that’s why, Bodo language should find place in the NRC forms.“We are disappointed to have found that Bodo language is missing in the NRC forms.
