As India prepares to celebrate her Republic Day and host French President Francois Hollande as the guest of honor, four banned outfits of Northeast India, the United Liberation Front of Western South East Asia [UNLFW], Coordination Committee [CorCom], Manipur, the Garo National Liberation Army [GNLA] and Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council [HNLC] of Meghalaya calls for a boycott of the 67th Republic Day.
To press for an independent Western South East Asia [WeSA] the outfits have unitedly called for a total shutdown of establishments imposing sanctions to all official and non-official Republic Day programmes of what it terms as imposed celebrations from 00:01 hrs to 18:00 hrs on January 26, 2016 allowing only emergency services, media and religious activities to continue unhindered during the period.
“The citizens of Western South East Asia are imposed upon to observe the Republic Day and reminded of the Indian Colonial bondage once again,” echoed the outfits in a joint statement issued to Newzfirst as groundwork to mark India's historic transition into an independent republic is gearing up to showcase its defence capacity, cultural and social heritage.
This unambiguous message has been clear and consistent since the Naga People dared to declare themselves independent on August 14, 1947 and the Kingdom of Manipur (Kangleipak) was usurped of its sovereignty and independence attained from British Colonialism and annexed forcibly to the Indian dominion along with the Kingdoms of Tripura and Assam, its held.
It appears to the outfits that in pushing for the totality of the Indian dominion, the Government of India is pursuing a hegemonic colonial policy to assimilate all distinct cultures, peoples and territories to India forever.
“Our land and territories are constantly ravaged, our indigenous people’s very existence is being threatened with the ever increasing influx of Indian immigrants. Thus, to survive and enable to live with dignity our people are compelled to take up arms to liberate ourselves from Indian occupation. On the other hand, Indian establishment is using all its military might, both hardware and software in suppressing the struggle for the right to self-determination. Over the years India has been honest in suppressing WeSEA militarily. To conform to the United Nations provisions of resolving issues with dialogue, peace talks have been initiated but the unmistakable diplomatic sly is that of, “Peace within the frame work of Indian Constitution,” amounting to absolute double-talk.,” proclaims the communiqué.
The communiqué goes in to say that Indian strategists are examining and exploiting the fault lines amongst the outfits and confidently pursuing a policy of divide and rule and the outfits are haplessly stepping onto well laid traps to facilitate their adversary in the schemes of things.
Dishonoring the Republic Day the outfits resolve to defeat what they term as India’s nefarious design by nurturing the WeSEA region collectively, symbiotically with a new, modern federal geo-political identity in contrast to India's federal set up with her own admission of being a truly unitary State in reality ridden with discrimination, castecism and pronounced racial overtures.
In alluding its aspirations the outfits went ahead to describe the idea of carving out the Indian sovereignity as a “deceitful tact” by forces that fooled Gopinath Bordoloi the then Prime Minister of undivided Assam and later the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Assam into taking Assam and a large portion of WeSA into the Indian fold.
Meanwhile security measures have been beefed up in the state to ensure that there are no breeches in law and order and thwart subversive activities before and after the Republic Day celebrations. Patrolling has been intensified in areas around vital installations including oil and gas pipelines, railway tracks, stations, government offices and educational institutions.
