Golden Jubilee of Jhargaon MV school
The golden jubilee celebration of Jhargaon MV School held at Jhargaon in Udalguri district on Sunday with fanfare and gaiety.
The inauguration of the newly-constructed main gate of the school marked the beginning of the three-day celebration followed by a number of events including a discussion on the topic Importance of Education on Life: It's importance on personality development . Dr. Keshab Chandra Dutta Retd. Principal Tangla College and veteran journalist was the appointed speaker of the event. On Feb 7 an open session was held which presided over by Ganesh Sarania. The session was inagurated by Dr. Ramchandra Deka Faculty Dept.of Assamese,Sipajhar College. A souvenir was also launched on the ocassion by Anuradha Sharma Pujari journalist and author .Several distinguished people including Lmswrao Daimari EM BTC attended the open session.

In yet another brutal incident, a man killed his wife in inebriated condition at Orangajuli tea garden near Panery on Friday morning. Identified as Pada Orang, he hit his wife with a wooden stick over trivial matters on Friday morning who died on the spot. Panery Police immediately rushed the spot and arrested the accused husband.
Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad was observed with traditional fervour in Tangla on Friday.Celebrated on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar, the day commemorates the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad. A group of nearly 10 armed biker miscreants looted ₹20 lakh from a Wagon-R car(AS06-E 7721) which was carrying bank cash from Udalguri SBI to Rowta SBI near Kahibari in broad day light triggering sensation in the entire area on Friday. The incident took place at 1.30 in the afternoon when an SBI employee,a bank guard and a driver were on the way to Rowta Chariali branch. The SBI vehicle was forced to stop at gunpoint by the group of miscreants after it crossed Kahibari and snatched away the bag of money and their mobile phones . The miscreants also snatched the DBBL shot gun and 7 live cartridges from the bank guard.
A total of ten promising athletes have been selected to represent Assam at Vishakhapattanam of Andhra Pradesh to participate in the 15th junior national inter district athletic meet to be held from November 24 to November 26 next. This was informed to this correspondent by Samuel Daimari, honorary general secretary of Udalguri district Athletic Association.
