Golden Jubilee of Jhargaon MV school
The golden jubilee celebration of Jhargaon MV School held at Jhargaon in Udalguri district on Sunday with fanfare and gaiety.
The inauguration of the newly-constructed main gate of the school marked the beginning of the three-day celebration followed by a number of events including a discussion on the topic Importance of Education on Life: It's importance on personality development . Dr. Keshab Chandra Dutta Retd. Principal Tangla College and veteran journalist was the appointed speaker of the event. On Feb 7 an open session was held which presided over by Ganesh Sarania. The session was inagurated by Dr. Ramchandra Deka Faculty Dept.of Assamese,Sipajhar College. A souvenir was also launched on the ocassion by Anuradha Sharma Pujari journalist and author .Several distinguished people including Lmswrao Daimari EM BTC attended the open session.

Yet another wild elephant is believed to have died of food poisoning in Udalguri district sending shock and anger among the animal lovers across the state. A female elephant of around 9-10 year old which was moving in a huge herd in at Ganeshghat village along the Indo-Bhutan border on Friday wee hours was found dead beside a small tea garden.
The Udalguri police nabbed two bike lifters and found four two wheelers from their possession on Thursday. Acting on s tip off, police conducted raids in Khoirabari and Bhairabkund where the bikes were recovered. A biker died when a speeding dumper rammed into the two wheeler on the Mangaldai-Bhutiachang road on Sunday. The accident took place near a petrol pump under Tangla police station in Udalguri where the deceased was identified as Jayman Kujur alias Ekka of Bamunjuli village in Dimakuchi. The pillion rider,Santius Kujur who sustained serious injury was rushed to Tangla CHC and referred to Mangaldai Civil Hospital for better treatment. In an effort to uplift the border populace 37 Battalion SSB deployed at Indo-Bhutan Border distributed furniture and computers to three different schools. SSB also gave a face lift to these schools by renovating the existing infrastructure by construction of brick wall and flooring. A cyclist was run over by a speeding stone carrying dumper (AS 27 C 1972)on Mangaldai-Bhutiachang road near Garuajhar under Panery PS in Udalguri district on Tuesday morning.The deceased was identified as Tafazul Haque(12). Security forces in Tangla busted a human trafficking racket as they caught three people on Wednesday. Acting on a tip off troops of 37 Bn SSB Mangaldai deployed a group of jawans at BOP in Nonaikhuti along the Indo-Bhutan border village of Udalguri. With the help of local AASAA activists, the security forces apprehended the three persons who were to leave the place with a minor girl near Tangla railway station on evening. Acleanliness drive was organized by Mula-Gabharu and Chamuapara-Balipara Jagrata Womens' Village Organisation (VO) at Chamuapara village on the outskirts of Tangla town on Sunday. Like every year, the Kathina Cibara Dana was celebrated at Anadhuwa Buddha Vihar Temple near Panery of Udalguri with a two day long programme on Saturday and Sunday.
