Injured wild pachyderm remains in agony

The Udalguri district which is infamous and in headlines in recent times for the highest casualties in Asia resulting in the Man-Elephant conflict has another wild jumbo separated from a herd which sustained injury and has been writhing in pain in a drain at Ganesh Ghat of Majuli Basti under Harisinga PS neigbouring the Indo-Bhutan area. The elephant with a head injury had been in the waters wallowing in its waste as it waits for its rescue since Wednesday night.

Pertinently the local villagers alleged that though they repeatedly informed forest officials for the rescue of the jumbo no forest officials or Vetenary team reached the spot till the filling of this report. The local media persons also made efforts to inform the forest officials but to no help.
