NCSC workshop for teachers held at Tangla
A day long NCSC activity workshop was held at Arunodoi Academy,Tangla recently on July 1 for science teachers of Udalguri district.The NCSC (National Children's Science Congress) activity workshop was organized by NCSC Udalguri district committee in association with Arunodoi Academy,Tangla.Nearly a hundred science teachers of the district and a few interested students and children took part in the activity workshop to learn how to prepare scientific projects for the 24th National Children's Science Congress under the theme “Science Technology and Innovation (SIT)for substancial Development”.In Assam ASTEC (Assam Science Technology and Environment Council) Guwahati supervises NCSC activities.The district level science congress will be held in September while the state level meet will be held in October this year at Dibrugarh.Gajen Baruah,District Coordinator,NCSC Udalguri in his welcome speech spoke about the norms and necessity of making science projects while J Das,District Coordinator, ASC, Udalguri attending the workshop as the resource person explained about necessary steps for guiding students and children for the presentation of science projects based on local issues or problems after careful study and observation.Pranabjyoti Das,principal, Arunodoi Junior Science College Tangla spoke on various sub theme like-1.Science Technology and Innovation for Natural Resource Management;2.Food and Agriculture;3.Energy;4.Health Hygine and Nutrition; 5.Life style and Environment;6.Disaster Management and 7.Traditional Knowledge System. Ramesh Chandra Saharia Memorial Lecture 2013 was held recently at Tangla on February 8 on the occasion of 31st death anniversary of late Ramesh Chandra Saharia of Tangla. An eleven months old hog deer has been killed at Samrang in Udalguri district at 10 AM on January 11.SSB and forest personnel arrested four persons of No. 2 Samrang namely- Lakhi Newar (45),Rajesh Tanti (16),Bishnulal Newar (40) for killing the hog deer.Another Bijoy Newar (22) has been evading arrest. A two months old wild elephant calf (male) was rescued which had been found near Assam-Arunachal border on December 17. According to information the Sarkari Gaonburah of Sikaridanga village informed forest officials of Mazbat Range Office about the presence of a lone wild elephant calf in the morning of December 17. A forest rescue team headed by MP Sarma, ACF, Dhansiri Forest Division rescued the calf on the same day at 12.30 pm.
