ABSU appeals govt to re-think over oil field auction

The influential All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) demanded BJP led alliance Govt to re-think over the auction of oil field and rising price of essential commodities in Assam.

Speaking the reporters’ on Sunday at Bodofa house in Kokrajhar, Promod Boro,president of the ABSU said that the alliance govt BJP, BPF and AGP should re-think the matter on auction of oil field in the state.

He condemns the state government playing politics to the set up of AIIMS which was suppose to be established at Raha, Nagaon, but interestingly location has been shifted to Changsari, Guwahati for which one person was killed for agitating for the set up at Raha. Boro demanded AIIMS should be set up at Raha at any cost because agitation continue till today.

‘AIIMS must be established at Raha because location survey had done at Raha in Nagaon, if such not being be done,then be set up at Chirang district in lower Assam for greater interest of common public.

Boro said that union has decided to celebrate historic and colorful programme of the Golden Jubilee (50 years) of ABSU,which has been stepping glorious 50 years on its foundtaion by February 15 next(2017) in Kokrajhar. Two committees would be formed to convene the celebration to make successful programme.

Over lac of people will participate the celebration from across the country as well as abroad in which Bodo peoples are living, Boro added.

Boro termed that the killing of militants was not final solution, but govt has to take some alternative way to solve permanent solution of militancy problems in the northeast state. He also appealed the NDFB -S militants outfit to joint in main stream along with other ceasefire groups like NDFB(P) & NDFB(R)) to meet permanent solution.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar. Three individuals, including former MLA and senior BPF (Bodoland People's Front) leader Hitesh Basumatary, were arrested by police in Baksa district after a search operation at Basumatary's residential complex resulted in the recovery of a large cache of illegal arms and ammunition.
