Gorkhas demand ST status

Hundreds of Gorkha peoples from four districts of BTAD region throng to participate in a three-hour sit-in-demonstration agitation programme on Monday at DRDA parking ground near DC office demanding Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, recognition of Original Inhabitant (OI) status in NRC, nominate members from Gorka community in BTC council.

Agitators with banner,placards,fetoone participated the demonstration and shouted slogans demanding early granting ST status,OI status in NRC update, which was organized by Assam Gorka Sammelan, BTAD regional committee. The agitators voice sky wave with shoutings-‘No ST No Rest’, Gorkhas should be regarded as OI citizens in Assam nominate a member from Gorkha community in BTC council. The Sammelan submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister through Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar seeking early ST status to Gorkha community in Assam. The Sammelan warn to take vigorous mass agitation if their demands are not meet as early in coming days.

Laksmhi Sedai,president of the Sammelan told that the Grokahs are indigenous peoples of the state with own culture, identity and language because Gorkhas have been dwelling peacefully in Assam since time of immemorial as defense personnel, a few government officials and academicians, cattle breeders etc in all spheres of Assam. He has demanded the Gorkhas should get early ST status to meet healthy development I the state. He expressed serious concern over tactically non granting OI status to Gorkha community in NRC update in Assam, besides keeping community on confusion with marking non-original inhabitants.

He has put demand of OI status for Gorkha community while filling NRC update. He has also demanded a member should be nominated from Gorkha community in BTC council to represent community with development aspects.

“We started our agitation from Kokrajhar to the cause of ST status, OI in NRC update, nomination of a member from Gorkha in BTC council. We put demands to the higher authority and government to meet early fulfillment,other wise mass agitation will be initiated in days to coming. Government deprived Gorkha community from all fronts of development as well ST status since long years back. The government should take stern measure to fulfill community’s issues and aspects”,Sedai said.

It is my pride, to read the above article which is appreciated. Gorkhas are the key element for peace and prosperity of the soil. Even though, they are still struggling for their identification and their own home land. Each Gorkha has to be motivated, through a spirit of friendship and mutual understanding among themselves and communities around. In addition, walk together and work together to reach to great destination with a fruitful result. I would say, peace does whatever we want. So much thanks to my dear brothers and sisters.

Five players from Kickboxing Association, BTC earned five more gold and two silver in the ongoing National Martial Games, 2016 held at SRPF ground,Mumbai in Maharastra on Sunday. Blast at professor's house

A crude bomb was exploded inside a house of Prof. Abdul Kalek Fakir late last night at Rupsigaon under Tulsibil police outpost in Kokrajhar district. According to Fakir, a professor by his profession at Jomduar College in Gossaigaon that a huge sound was arisen inside house complex following explosion late last night which took place around 11.40 pm, but no one was injured. Fakir lodged an FIR with police in this regard. Police rushed the spot and collected samples from the spot, which was suspected of crude bomb that was planted by unidentified miscreants. ‘Investigation is on into incident’, said a senior police officer.

Narzary to work for social integration

Rabiram Narzary, former ABSU president and BPPF, later merged with BPF party ahead assembly election in January last, won the poll battle with huge margin from 29-Kokrajhar West LAC in Kokrajhar district on BPF ticket. Narzary, in his first step in poll battle after merged with BPF party, got 64,423 votes and Dahit Chandra Brahma; AIUDF got 47,083 votes while former Rajya Sabha MP and UPP candidate, UG Brahma got only 18,629 votes. Narzary, after elected to the Assam assembly immediately in an exclusive interview said that he would stress for the social integration in his constituency, besides highlighting social issues to meet healthy development and unity among all sections of community....

Medals for martial game players

Three players from Kickboxing Association, BTC won two gold and silver in the ongoing National Martial Game, 2016 being held at SRPF, Mumbai ground in Maharashtra.  Bikram Rabha won gold in cadit and semi contact under 45 kg category. Karani Patowary, won gold medal in semi contact bout under 51 kg category on Friday . Bina Brahma won silver medal in semi contact under 41 kg category in the game.     

BPF clean sweeps in BTAD

Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF), an alloy of BJP-AGP has made landslide victory with winning 12 constituencies in BTAD region that result was declared on Thursday. BPF president Hagrama Mohilary, who is also BTC chief, thanked all citizens of the BTC region for supporting his party to win 12 seats in the election. After getting news of winning 12 seats in the result, Mohilary said that we had predicted that we would win all contesting seats on public’ blesses and today we have emerged to retain our party position. ‘We will participate in the BJP led alliance government in the state and working for the peoples’ welfare is the prime job in the coming days. Senior  BPF leader  and former minister Pramila Rani Brahma has been elected straight six term consecutive from 30-Kokrajhar east LAC in Kokrajhar district to the Assam assembly that was today declared. Brahma,after electing as MLA for six term fromKokrajhar east LAC said that she will stress on social integration and development in the constituency. Kokrajhar all set for counting

Kokrajhar,haert of BTAD administration is all set for counting of Assembly polls for three constituencies in the district and Indo-Bhutan border areas have been kept closed contact with necessary security vigil arrangements for the day. Altogether 23 candidates are in fray for three constituencies i.e-30-Kokrajhar east, 29-Kokrajhra west and 28-Gossaigaon and counting of votes would held at Basic Training Centre for Kokrajhar east LAC,Gossaigaon sub-divisional headquarters for Kokrajhar west and Gossaigaon LACs in the district. Classes suspended for storm affected schools

All classes were suspended at Chechapani ME School on Tuesday, hardly one and half kilometer adjacent to Kokrajhar district administration following school roof and building ruined by rain-stormy on Monday, besides guardian and teachers expressed resented over insincerity from district administration into situation. On the other hand, district administration told that concern authority has been taking serious note about the incident. Students of the school were deprived from classes following classes were suspended, which was totally lashed out by rain stormy.
