Luitpar Club in Narengi Campus of Oil India Limited recently organized a unique initiative for encouraging reading habit among the residents, primarily the young people in the colony. The club supplied various books in Assamese, English, Hindi and Bengali language to the households under Rasaraj Lakshminath Bezbaruah mobile library.
The program was launched by journalist Nava Thakuria on 21 July in presence of Luitpar Club president, its secretary Narayan Majumder, senior members including Padmeswar Kalita, Haren Sarma, Jadav Kalita, Tapas Bhattacharya, Hira Rajbongshi etc.

MONGOLDOI: Yet another person succumbed to injuries in the police firing in Dhola on Wednesday triggering huge protest the sub urban area in Darranga district. The seriously injured person who was among the hundreds of protesters succumbed to injuries at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital on Wednesday evening. HOJAI:Plastic materials worth several lakh reduced to ashes when a huge fire broke out at s shop in Hojai to town on Wednesday.The incident took place at around 8.30 in the evening where fire originated from the electric short circuit engulfed the entire shop on the JK Kedia Road in the town.Fire fighters reached the spot and brought the situation under control. But by then all materials inside the shop were gutted in fire.The total extent of damage has yet to be ascertained.

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has instituted a high level probe into the Dhola clash where a local resident was killed in police firing on Wednesday. Sonowal, who has come back to Guwahati has asked additional chief secretary MGVK Bhanu to probe the incident.
