UPPL condemns killing

The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) strongly condemned firing at Bamungaon village under Philobari PS in Tinsukia and attacked on Rongbongbe Police Station in Karbi-Anglong districts late alst night by armed militants which claimed three lives and left several injures ahead celebration of Independence Day in Assam. Prodip Kumar Daimary,general secretary of UPPL,in a press release condemned the brutal killing of two persons-Kishori Shah (65) and Rajesh Shah (28) and injuring Jitendra Chouhan, Baran Gour, Ranjit Shah and others at village-Bamungaon (Philobari) of Doomdoma in Tinsukia district by suspected United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) last evening. Party also strongly condemned the brutal attack by suspected KPLT militants on the Rongbongbe Police Station in Karbi-Anglong where a jawan Ratul Gogoi was killed and another jawan Pavanjyoty Deka received serious injured.

Party demanded from the state government to pay ex-gratia payment of Rs. 10 lakhs each to the victim families and Rs. 2 lakhs each to the injured persons of both the incidents of Tinsukia and Karbi-Anglong districts for their medical treatment.

The UPPL appealed the Assam Government to nab the culprits of both the attack at Doomdoma and Rongbongbe and give stringent punishment as per the law of the land. The UPPL also urged upon the Assam Government to provide safety & security of life & property of all the people of the state. As the state is the guardian of all people, it is the duty of the state government to ensure the safety & security of all people living in the state,Daimary stated in the release.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar.
