NDFB (S) informer held

Police apprehended a suspected over ground worker/sympathizer of NDFB-S identified as Paulina Basumatary 22, wife of a NDFB-S cadre Compounder alias Khaose from No 1 Nandipur village under Kachugaon police station in Kokrajhar district .

Police said Rs 15,000 (extorted from Audung Bazar area) have been recovered from her possession which was supposed to be handed over to NDB-S cadre.

She was working as a channel of communication between the NDFB-S cadres and over ground worker in that area through her husband. She has been playing a very important role in siphoning off extortion money to the outfit in Myanmar through the OGWs/sympathisers.

Hog deer rescued in Baksa

A hog deer was rescued after it slipped into a pond at Koklabari agriculture farm in Baksa district of BTAD on Sunday.The animal  was spotted by the villagers at a pond which is felt on pond clay and saw injuries on its one leg.Following information about Hog Deer's fall to the pond clay, a joint team of Manas Maozigendri Ecotourism Society,a NGO and forest department rushed the spot and rescued the Deer from Koklabari agriculture farm, outside of Manas National Park.

National Expo going on in Kokrajhar

A national handloom expo -2017-18,Kokrajhar is going on at the Rashmela ground in Kokrajhar. The expo was organised by BRAWFED in association with development commissioner for handlooms, ministry of textiles. Rajib Brahma, BTC executive member graced as chief guest and lighted the lamp to inaugurate expo. A total 52 stalls from different states, including a Bhutanese stall are participating the expo. The expo will continue till December 7 next.

Concern over elephant deaths

Forest minister Pramila Rani Brahma is shocked to have learnt the repeated incidents of jumbo death due to electrocution and rail movements. Talking to reporters in the sidelines of s function in Kokrajhar on Thursday she  expressed concern over the increasing of the wild elephant’s deaths across the state and blamed the power department. She said that forest department has been trying to end the deaths of wild elephants accidental deaths with necessary measures. She said that elephants death is increasing day by day in the state on various occasion which are becoming very sensitive for the state.  

PMAY scheme distributed in Kokrajhar

Assam forest minister and local MLA of Kokrajhar east LAC Pramila Rani Brahma inaugurates the ceremoniall distribution of letter intent(LOI) to the Prime Minister Awas Yajana of Housing Financial Assistance((PMAY-HFA) at a programme held at KDSA stadium in Kokrajhar on Thursday. The programme was organised by BTC Urban Development Department in association with Kokrajhar Municipality Board to distribute the cheques and sanction letters of the PMAY ventures among urban beneficiaries. A 22 member team, comprising 20 students and two teacher guides from different Higher Secondary Schools in Kokrajhar district is on the way to Mumbai,Pune and Goa by train for national integration tour(NIT) under the part of Operation Sadbhavana of the red horn division of Indian army to pave way students knowledge building in their future life in the country.
