Death trap in bridge over Nonai river of Tangla
The emergence of a massive death trap in the important road bridge over Nonai river of Tangla over the Tangla-Bhergaon road have raised concerns of the local populace of greater Tangla area. What is more shocking and bizzare is that even after two days of emergence of the death trap it has not even come to notice of PWD Road authorities making it more vulnerable to major accidents. "The death trap is lying naked posing serious threat without any warning signs or safety of commuters" said,Jitu Pathak a college student .
The bridge is reportedly facing threat owing to the sand-mining-induced erosion of sand from the close vicinity of its piers.
The bridge is one of the most important bridges of the town as large number of commuters specially school children,traders and others cross it on a daily basis. To avert major accident the local people have exhorted the authorities concerned to take first hand measures and repair the death trap immediately.

UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.
AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two others for not wearing masks.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.
The house belongs to Fakira Ansari, Manik Ali,Bhim Ram,Raj Kumar Prasad,Akon Rabha and Sankar Basfor.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.

TANGLA, May 20: In an unfortunate turn of event a 32 year old reputed businessman Roshan Patowary an inhabitant of Ward No. 4 of Tangla town in Udalguri district was electrocuted to death while fitting an inverter battery at his residence at about 8 pm on Tuesday night.
