It is a good news that Assam’s young script writer and film director for short film,Dev Gupta has won two awards so far in International and national level for his ‘Qissbah’, a short film shot in Guwahati and its adjoining areas of Assam along with cast and crew are all from Assam. Gupta, born in Kokrajhar, heart of BTAD administration started script writing and directed films since two-three years back,presently he is busy in Mumbai with his new script assignment.He has written and directed ‘Qissbah: What is not a story’, a short film,which has won two awards and nominated to participate in TMFF Glasgow,received two official selection invitation in Indiewise Florida and Asia International youth Short film exhibition,Wenzhou.

Gupta’s award winning includes-The Indiefest Film Awards San Diego,an award of Merit for experimental cinema in international and Indian Cine Festival,Mumbai for special Jury mention.

Speaking the reporters at Kokrajhar Press Club in Kokrajhar on Thursday, Dev Gupta said the ‘Qissbah’, is a short film for 28 minutes in English and Hindi with fictional shot in Guwahati in the state of Assam. He has written and directed the short film in English and Hindi language,has now won two awards and got three nominations all over the world.

‘It’s the story of Masoom Gautam Lekhi,a scriptwriter,and his quest for a mythical place of storytellers where people are said to find Moksha’,said Gupta.

Gupta said that film industry is a commercial entertainment through which peoples can earn financial establishment with film assignments.

He said that the film has been shot in Guwahati and its cast and crew are all from Assam,now getting good response from viewers all over the world.

‘Malpani Talkies will present the film and handle the publicity and marketing as well,starting with the Dubai Film market.The film will be released online after completion of its festival journey’,Gupta said.

Two persons died on the spot due to road mishap at Joypur along 31 C National Highway in Kokrajhar district on Saturday afternoon.
