The two-day self-defence training camp for lady scribes concluded on Sunday morning at Guwahati Press Club. Organized by the Greater Guwahati Amateur Muaythai Club in association with the press club, the training on self-defence technique was participated by over 20 scribes and journalism students.
The camp was inaugurated by Guwahati DCP Amanjeet Kaur in presence of the press club secretary Nava Thakuria on 17 December 2016. The training session was conducted by black belt awardee Jhankar Gogoi and supported by Ranjita Rabha, Sajadul Rana Hussain and Ganesh Kalita.
DCP Kaur appreciated the initiative and expected more such programs to empower the lady journalists. The IPS officer pointed out that the journalists in general and lady scribes in particular could bring the message of positive change in the society. She also stated that the lady journalist must safeguard themselves from various negative elements first and then report for their media outlets later.
