Bijni Bagduar Nwgwr is all set to host the international book fair cum literary festival, cultural exchange, food festival and trade fair beginning from Thursday with week-long colorful programmes in Chirang district.
All kinds of preparations have completed so far to hold the event with smooth manner. The international event has been coincided with the celebration of 33rd foundation day of the Bodo Writers' Academy, an organization of Bodo writers in the state of Assam. Over 100 book stalls from different parts of the the country,apart from state,including National Book Trust(NBT) are participating in the event.
The celebration will be beginning tomorrow with inauguration of book fair,trade fair and exhibition by Gakul Chandra Brahma,SDO(civil),Bijni at 3 pm while Kamalsing Narzary,Bijni MLA will inaugurate the delegate session of the Bodo Writers’ Academy by 6 pm in the evening.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will grace as chief guest while Hagrama Mohilary, BTC chief will be attending as inaugurator on the open session on the concluding day of the event on March 23.
Dr Rupali Swargiary, noted writer of Baksa district would be conferred Asha Mushahary Literary Award for her Khwmsi Okrangao Gwrlwi Okhapwr book (short story) on March 17. The award comprises of cash 10,000, citation and a momento which would be conferred during the international event.
Various colorful programmes, which included creative literature, seminar, cultural exchange, book fair, indigenous food items, get together with book publishers would be organized in the event.
The 'Uttar Purvi Mahotsav 2024', a five-day cultural extravaganza showcasing Northeast India's richness, kicks off on January 13 at Bharat Mandapam. Organized by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and NEHHDC, the festival aims to display diverse arts, crafts, and cultures, fostering economic opportunities. With 250 participants including weavers, farmers, and entrepreneurs, the event features panel discussions, buyer-seller meets, traditional performances, and a focus on women's roles in regional development.
