Diktat defied, tri colour fluttering

Defying rebel diktat Assam along with other north eastern states joined the nation-wide Independence Day celebration with traditional pomp and gaiety on Tuesday. 

Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal hoisted the tricolour before taking salute of the march past by army, police, para military forces and NCC at the Khanapara veterinary Playground. 

In his speech, Sonowal promised to help the state progress on all fronts. He said his government will spare no pain to make Assam one of the developed states in the country. 

Cabinet ministers, MLAs and district and sub divisional heads unfurled the flag a mid a beefed up security measure. 

ULFA(I), NDFB(S) along with other rebel outfits operating in thr region gave the I Day boycott diktat and general strike from Monday midnight to Tuesday evening forcing the security forces to remain alert.
