A local lower court in Guwahati remanded Ranjit Gogoi to three days police custody after police probing the ₹30 crore ad scam arrested the publicity and public relations director alleging his involvement in it.
Gogoi was arrested after marathon interrogation by a team of top ranked police officers who did not received satisfactory reply and wanted his custodial interrogation.
After medical check up in the evening, Gogoi, the Janasanyog director wad brought before the court asking for five days police remand. The court sent him to police remand for only three days.
“Interrogation is going on. That’s all. Beyond that we can't divulge anything in detail,” said a police officer who refused to be named.
A few other people is likely to be arrested very soon, said the sources adding that nobody would be allowed to go free.
Rajiv Bora, who also allegedly siphoned off money in the name of his advertisement agency is likely to be arrested since the Gauhati High Court rejected his anticipatory bail.
The multi crore scam took place towards the fag end of the erstwhile Congress government where a section of officers and advertisement agencies siphoned off the amount showing issue order without any tender.
