1st Inter Udalguri District School Athletics Meet held

In  a bid to tap the budding potential of school students in athletics the 1st Inter-Udalguri District School Atheletics Meet-2018 was organized here at Tangla Stadium ground in Udalguri district on Saturday. The event organized by Tangla Sports Association was witnessed widespread participation of nearly 300 athletes from 25 different schools of Udalguri district. The sports competitions included Running Race,Long Jump,High Jump,Javelin,Discuss,Shotput Throw,Rally among others  were held for both Boys and Girls categories. The opening ceremony was attended by former Panery MLA,Kumud Das; Bhergaon SDO(C),Dithakananda Hazarika; District Sports Officer,Bhupen Rabha; Working President of Tangla Sports Association ,Khargeswar Boro; Internationally acclaimed Kabaddi referree,Nomal Rabha,journalist,Shajid Khan among others.From this meet, athletes will be selected for the state level athletics meet informed event secretary,Mukunda Sarma Baruah. The dignitaries also distributed the athletes with medals and certificates.

The large-scale death of fish at the historic Lakhimpur Min Mahal under Kalaigaon revenue circle of Darrang district has left people worried and alarmed at the survival prospects of the aquatic faunas in Lakhimpur phukuri which include turtles, fishes etc. Nearly 15-20 quintals of fishes were found floating on Thursday in the pond, following which hundreds of people gathered to get the dead fishes. Incessant rainfall since early morning on Thursday has totally paralyzed the normal functioning of life in the Tangla town. A shower has made water logging in various localities of Ward No.3 and 4. Specially the localities of Ward No.4 are in knee-deep water,resulting commuters life difficult. The Udalguri DC Sadhana Hojai has prohibited any kind of extra or unauthorised collection of money from the newly enrolled students of HS and TDC 1st semester courses of Tangla College vide Order no. UMG. 3/2015/22 dated June 16, 2016. The admissions are ongoing from June 22-29 June. For long it was alleged various students organisations collected extra-money from the students in the name of enrolling them as a students body member . 2nd International Yoga Day camp was held on the morning of Tuesday in joint collaboration of Tangla regional Patanjali Yoga committee and Bharat Swabhiman at Tangla HS school field. As a part of World Environmental Day celebration a plantation drive was carried by students and employees of Tangla  on Sunday. A total of 150 saplings were planted on the college stadium premises on Monday. The plantation drive was carried out under the joint venture of National Social Service unit and Tangla College Students' Union of Tangla College.
