Indian medical association demands fulfillment of commitments by govt

Kokrajhar: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has demanded fulfilling and solutions of the assurance and commitment given from governments towards the doctors who were on their nationwide strike on Monday across the country. The doctor’s fraternities across the nation observed 24-hour nationwide strike seeking protection and securities as well welfare to the working doctors and punished the involved persons with violence on doctors in Kolkata.

President of Indian Medical Association (IMA),Kokrajhar branch, Dr Debdas Bhowal in an exclusively talking with this Correspondent in Kokrajhar told that the strike of the doctors had called off on Monday evening after a meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata and she made an assurance to check all incidents like violence on doctors occurred in Kolkata and fulfilling of the demands put from doctor’s fraternities in days to coming.

The CM Banerjee had given commitment for healthy welfare and necessary initiatives to the doctors in the state, and thus Junior Doctors called off the strike.

In Assam, doctor’s fraternities under the banner IMA observed 24-hour strike beginning from 6 am of Monday morning and today concluded by 6 am in protest against the violence on doctors and demanded strict security cover up and welfare to the doctors in the state. Dr Bhowal said that the IMA has been pressing government to provide strong security and enactment of central policy to the protection of doctors in the country.He said that doctor’s fraternities are always want healthy welfare of the patient as well common peoples and thus working to the social uplift. But sometime, we (doctors) face hardships which are not well suited in the environment.He has put demanded proper implementation and welfare to the doctor’s fraternities which were put commitment from governments in coming days.Dr Bhowal also urged government to take stern initiatives against violence on doctors as well atrocities and put healthy welfare to meet healthy living environment across the country.

A 17-year-old youth has died and another his colleague was rescued after drowning at Hell River at Fakiragram in Kokrajhar. The incident took place on Sunday evening at Dhopertal village along the Hell River. The duo hailed from Maligaon Guwahati visited their reltives house at Fakiragram. They went to the Hell River to have a bath in the afternoon and met the mishap. Local police and SDRF team rushed the spot after the incident recovered one body and another one rescued. Kokrajhar: The Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) and Bodo community recalled contributions of Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma, former president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, and his contribution towards upliftmentof the Bodo literary and language; on his 19th death anniversary at his burial place at Chandamari in Kokrajhar on Monday. The anniversary was organized under the aegis of Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) in association with Bineswar Brahma Charitable Trust to mark the occasion. Bodo sahitya sabha and Bodo peoples remembered former president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha late Bineswar Brahma on his 19th death anniversary on Monday at his burial place Chandamari in Kokrajhar. Brahma was shot by armed militant cadres at his Bhetapara residence in Guwahati in 2000. On his anniversary,BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary,Assam Social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma,Bodo sahitya sabha president Toren Boro,ABSU leader Lawrence Islary and several members paid floral tribute to Brahma and recalled his contributions. KOKRAJHAR: Police arrested six persons for involved in a witchcraft case at Jhornagra village, Kokrajhar. Police registered a case in this regard themselves. Last Thursday, the village committee of Jhornagra village ordered Badreswar Rabha and his family members to leave the village within a week on suspicion of practicing witchcraft. As soon as Kokrajhar police came to know about the incident, they rescued the family and apprehended six persons including a VDP secretary on Friday evening. KOKRAJHAR: Kokrajhar police seized 1.80 quintles of ganja illegally carrying in a truck and arrested the driver near Karigaon national highway on Thursday. He was identified as Shyam Kumar Mahato of Bihar. The truck came from Agartala and bound for West Bengal. Police brought the seized under its custody and interogation is on. Police said that market value of the sized Ganja would be amounting of nearly 20 lakhs.
