Arms recovered

KOKRAJHAR: Security forces have recovered large number cache of arms, ammunitions and explosives inside Manas National Park (MNP) under Gavarukundha range near Panbari under Bijni police station in Chirang district on Tuesday morning.

A joint operation was launched on Tuesday evening by Chirang Police in the general area of Gavarukunda inside deep jungles of MNP near Panbari and recovered huge amounts of arms, ammunitions and explosives on a buried condition. Security forces had come successful to trace out the arms with the help Indian Army tracker dog which had led to the spot where arms were buried.

Police suspects the recovery arms belong to NDFB- Saoraigwra faction which were kept buried.

The recovery arms,ammunition and explosives were included nine factory made rifle, 11 country made rifle, 56 ammunitions of 7.62 AK series,10 rounds of 5.56 riffle, 21 ammunitions of  7.62 sniper, ten round ammunitions of  7.62 Pika, 29 ammunitions of 7.62 CTN,f four magazines,98 empty cartridges and 17 kgs explosives (PEK).

Baneswar Basumatary ailing

Founder president of the All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) and noted writer Baneswar Basumatary is seriously ailing since few months. Basumatary,who is hailing from Koklabari of Baksa district has been ailing since few months. He is now senseless, passing days on bed. He was also one of the general secretary of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, an apex body of Bodo literary. Basumatary became president of the ABSU in 1967. Several Bodo organisations,including ABSU,Bodo sahitya sabha have extended their wishes for early recovery of Basumatary. Six relief camps opened

A total six relief camps have been opended for the flood affected peoples in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts in last 48-hours as Gaurang, Champamati, Sankosh, Modati, Gurufela,Saralbhanga and Aie rivers are flowing above their danger levels on Tuesday. 56 villages are affected in the flash floods in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts with damaging 150 hectares of crops area. In Kokrajhar, 19,000 peoples are affected in the flood under Gossaigaon and Bagribari revenue circles in the district. Flood water washed away highway bridge
