Nazira Hangabadik Mancha Observes Rabha Divas at Gandhi Maidan

Nazira, June 20: The Nazira Hangabadik Mancha commemorated Rabha Divas on June 20 with a solemn and vibrant program held at Gandhi Maidan, Nazira. Rabha Divas is observed across Assam to mark the death anniversary of legendary cultural icon Bishnu Prasad Rabha, who passed away on this day in 1969.

The event commenced with floral tributes and the lighting of candles at the bust of Vishnu Prasad Rabha. Dr. Kukil Kumar Gogoi, Superintendent of Hiteshwar Saikia Civil Hospital in Nazira and a noted dramatist and actor, paid his respects by offering floral tributes and lighting candles at the memorial.

The celebration was graced by several distinguished personalities including Dr. Barnali Dutta, Information and Public Relations Officer of Nazira Co-District, and Syed Khairul Hasan, advisor to the Nazira Hangabadik Mancha. A public meeting followed the tribute ceremony, jointly presided over by Mintu Chitrakar, President of Nazira Hangabadik Mancha, and Dhilip Hazarika, Vice-President.

During the meeting, Dr. Kukil Kumar Gogoi delivered a keynote address, highlighting the enduring legacy of Vishnu Prasad Rabha. He shared rare insights and personal anecdotes about Rabha’s ideals and sacrifices, many of which he had learned through conversations with Rabha’s wife, Mohini Rabha.

The event also featured performances and reflections by notable attendees including Dr. Barnali Dutta, Dhilip Das—a celebrated radio artist from Nazira, journalist Jadumoni Hazarika, and singer Jaya Konwar, who performed soulful Rabha Sangeet numbers.

Among other eminent guests were Bhaben Das, Officer-in-Charge of Nazira Police Station; Prashant Barthaakur, renowned social worker; Tapan Kalita, cultural activist; Sunil Das, Central Organizing Secretary of the Scheduled Caste Youth Student Council; and Arup Das and Ditul Das, President and Vice-President of the Nazira District Committee of the Scheduled Caste Council. Also present were Jyandevi Paw and Dipanjali Sharma, Headmistress and teacher respectively of Assam Company Boys Primary School.

The program served as a heartfelt tribute to Bishnu Prasad Rabha’s lasting impact on Assam’s cultural and social fabric, uniting community members in remembrance and reflection.

Nazira regional unit of All Assam Student Union is protesting against poor quality reconstruction of Dhudar Ali. Rs.17 crore reconstruction work of the historic Dhudar ali is going on. AASU Nazira unit submitted a memorendum to the SDO (C) Nazira on Monday.
Nazira is all abuzz. Come Tuesday. The much-waited Vivek Rath is all set arrived the historic place. According to the schedule, the rath will reach Nazira at 9 AM  to be received by the Ram Krishna Seva Somittee of Nazira. The programme will begin at the Nazira Natiya Mandir as a mark of honour.

People of Nazira observed the 2nd death anniversary of Dr Bhupan Hazarika in front of Nazira Natya Mandir on Tuesday. On this occation Nazira Regional Student Union, Traders Association and different organizations of Nazira organised a Shardhanjoli programme at 5 PM. Over 500  people gathered on this occasion to remember Bhupen Hazarika. Remembering the music legand, over thousands of earthen lamps were lightenened in different places of Nazira town.
President of Axom Xahitya Xobha Imran Shah visited the office of the NGO Pragati and Freelance Journalist Association, Nazira on October 31. He was accompanied by the central executive member of Axom Xahitya Xobha Juga Gogoi and the secretary of Sivasagar district Xahitya Xobha Jivon Kalita. Shah was felicitated by the members of the both organisations.  
One hundred people of differnt cast and communities of Nazira  joined BJP. This was stated at a press release by general secretry of the BJP Sivasagar district unit Dilip Hazarika October 24. Jugan Mohan, Kamakhya Tasa, state VP of the BJP, national executive member of the party Anup Singh Rajpurohit, state secretary Suravi Rajkumari, district leader Imran Ahmed, Muhibur Rohman, Jadumoni Dutta etc. were present in the meeting. 
In the memory of the victims of  serial bomb blast at Guahati on October 30, 2008, Nazira regional unit of All Assam Studnts Union observed anti terriost day at Nazira. On this occation over 1000 earthen light were lightened by the AASU activitists in the bank of the historic Borbaruah Tank and they shouted slogans against the terrorism. On the other hand Freelance Journalist Association of Nazira and NGO Pragati also observed the anti-terriost day by lightining candle light in front of their office.
All 6 candidates of All Assam Student Union, who were contesting in the election of the Student Body of Nazira HSMP School on Octobe 24, were declared as the winning candidates. Around 1000  voters of the glorious Nazira HSMP School were casted their votes to form their union. Nazira Regional Unit of AASU feliciated the winning candidates and took out a rally in Nazira town on Friday.
During the last Durga Puja, an awarness programme on wildlife conservation was organised at Nazira town by voluntary organisation Pragati. The event included poster campaign, rally etc.
