Preparations are now over at Nehrubali in Nagaon as Nagaon is holding the North-East book fair from tomorrow January 19 with a seven-day programme.
The book fair organizing committee president and minister for Forest, Environment and Tourism, Rockybul Hussain disclosed in a press meeting held recently at Nagaon Tourist Lodge that Nagaon district administration would purchase books useful to children worth rupees ten lakhs, to be supplied to rural libraries and libraries of primary and high schools.
The book fair will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi at 9.30 am on January 19. The site of the book fair has been named after Lok Sevak Haladhar Bhuyan , and the main pendal is named after Upamita Sharma and Maitrayee Bhattacharya, two victims from Nagaon of Delhi bomb blast.
It is known from the organizing committee that more than 70 book distributors and publishers from places like New Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata etc. have confirmed their participation in the book fair.
The press meet was attended by Dr J Balaji, DC, Nitul Gogoi SP and many others of district administration.
