Gogoi violates model code: AGP to EC Chawla

Amid an aroused heat and dust in the run up to the Lok Sabha polls, AGP has alleged violation of model code of conduct by Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi saying he raised poll funds from the tea lobby during his recent visit to Kolkata.

According to information, the regional party has complained it before the Election Commissioner Navin Chawla on Monday in Guwahati as the latter was holding a meeting with the regional party leaders.

Before that the Election Commissioner reviewed electoral arrangements and security scenario in Assam with senior officials here before Lok Sabha polls. Chawla, who is on a two day visit to the state is scheduled to meet Director General of Police G M Srivastava and Home Commissioner Rajiv Bora to discuss the law and order situation and issues relating to deployment of extra security forces in the state during Lok Sabha polls.
