Senior Assam minister Dinesh Prasad Goala fainted for a brief period halfway through his address at the Independence day function in Silchar town. Delivering address at the District Sports Association (DSA) ground, Goala suddenly passed out and appeared to slouch.

The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) on Monday has made it clear that none of its top leaders have been using the soil of Bangladesh as its base. In a statement ULFA president Arabinda Rajkhowa said it’s a conspiracy to malign their image. Rajkhowa said there is no question of using the soil of Bangladesh while they are continuing the struggle for an end to the colonial rule of new Delhi. He alleged that the government has ignored any steps for a dignified political settlement of the conflict.He further alleged that the government has been blaming it all on the ULFA after successfully making a series of explosions in public place.

According to information, these include 500 gram of explosive materials, 255 detonators, 337 ammunition of AK series rifles, 163 ammunition of 9mm and 95 ammunition of 7.62 rifles.
