National Environment Awareness Campaign
On a special environment awareness camapaign by the Eco-Club of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School under the programme of "National Environment Awareness Campaign" a plantation programme was conducted here at "Nabagraha Kali Mandir Premises". In which, a large no. of trees like Neem, Tulsi, Bokul, Narasinha, Deodar, Guava, Wood Apple, Olive etc were planted. The programme was graced by noted social activist Kiran Bhattacharya, Principal of MVM-1 Monica Goswami Baruah and Vice-Principal of MVM-1, Sujata Goswami. A street play on environment was also performed by the students on the occasion. Several leading citizens lauded the effort of the Eco-Club for their noble contribution towards environment.

The agriculture department steps up measures to firmly deal with the army worms which wreak huge havocs in many parts of the state. In a letter to District Agricultural Officers and other officials, the department said that army worms or swarming caterpillars have manifested in different areas of the State. Steps like deployment of spraying squads in affected areas have been directed.
