The First Garo Food Fest was held at Meghalaya House Lawns, New Delhi on 7th October 2007. A pleasant afternoon saw Sabeena Saighal Saikia, the Editor of Delhi Times inaugurating the occasion.

A pleasant surprise for the gathering was presence of the Chief Minister DD Lapang, Deputy CM and other Ministers of Meghalaya. The visitors to the food festival included of people from the media, government, students, etc., smacking their lips and licking their fingers. Due to unexpected turnout of visitors in huge numbers, the food portion of the festival had to be close earlier as the stock of food ran out. The event continued with the jukebox and various games being organised.

Some items on the menu were Do'o Masala, Wak gominda, Wak baringbelati, Wak meammeseng pura, Wak galda ginchi pura, Do'o kappa, Dobok Bijak, Dobok bandal, Natok sroma, Natok kappa, Bika jo'a, Nakham Chutney, Nakham kappa, Bika kappa, etc. It was quite a spread for those where as yet unfamiliar with the variety of Garo (A'chik) food available in their almost everyday cuisine.

For the Delhi A'chik Youth Association, this is the first step in successfully re-introducing the Garos (A'chiks) and their culture to the National Capital.

Blast at Bhangagarh: 3 died and several injured

Three persons died and several others have been injured when a powerful bomb exploded at Bhagagarh area in the city on Thursday. Five of these persons have been seriously inured.The blast took place two and a half hours after the blast at Birubari area where one person was injured.

Chidambaram to visit Assam on Friday

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram is arriving in Guwahati on Friday to review the security situation in the state in the wake many terror attacks.According to information, Chidambaram would meet Chief Minister Tarun Gagoi and unified Command to discuss the security situation. NDFB expels Ranjan Daimary

Amid a widening crack within the National Democratic Front of Bodoland, the Bodo rebel outfit announced that their general council has sacked Ranjan Damry alias D R Nabla from the outfit.In a statement on Thursday, they said they were not satisfied with the recent statement of Daimary where he announced that he was still at the helm of affairs.NDFB president B Sungthagra said they are committed to peace process and that they will carry forward the process.

Blast in the city: 1 injured in Birubari

One person was injured when a minor blast took place in the city's Birubari area in the afternoon on Thursday. According to information, the bomb was planted inside a dustbin which exploded at around 2-45 in the afternoon.The injured person was waiting near the dustbin. Top ranked police officials rushed to the spot and investigation is on. The injury is said to be a minor one. Police say it an IED and that it's a handiwork of ULFA to terrorise the people on the new year's day.

Ceasefire extension with NDFB under consideration: Gogoi

Army busts KLNLF Gen HQ in Karbi Anglong

Army claims a major acheiecvement when it's Red Horn Division busted the KLNLF general headquarters at Laklangso in Karbi Anglong distirct on Thursday wee hours.According to information, acting on a tip off army conducted a raid at the General Headquarters of the rebel outfit, busted it after arresting a dreaded rebel.
