ULFA's anti talk faction seems to have stepped up activities ahead of the Republic Day. At least ten persons have sustained injuries when a powerful grenade exploded in Tinsukia on Monday. The blast took place a around 6-30 in the evening in front of Tinsukia Civil where the grenade planted at a bag exploded with a huge sound when the spot was teeming with people. The injured have been rushed to Civil Hospital at Tinsukia. Police have called in a handiwork of ULFA in view of the recent bid to rgroup. Security forces have cordoned off the area and a massive search operation launched to apprehend the culprits.
Another unexploded bomb, weighing five kilogram, has also been recovered during search operation at Chabua in Dibrugarh district.
Police said the militants on a motorcycle hurled the grenade at Sankar glass house in the busy Gopinath Bordoloi road at 6.10 pm.
