Sadhana Das passes away

Sadhana Das (69 years), wife of a benevolent social worker of Jorhat Jiten Das has left her mortal body on 21st June, 2007 at Dispur Hospital, Guwahati. She has left behind her husband, her only son Mr. Jyotimoi Das and her two daughters along with many other relatives.

Hojai: Smiling faces kept shinning in the SOS village in Hojai when they participated an art competition jointly CII supported by TATA Sustainability Group on Saturday at Telibasti MV School. Altogether 124 promising children participated in this competition to be divided into three groups:- Group A (Class 3 to 7),Group B (Class 8 to 10) and Group C (SOS Children). RSS holding huge rally in Guwahati

GUWAHATI:Guwahati is holding a huge RSS rally on Sunday forcing the authority to step up security in the face of an escalating criticism from a section of political parties and organizations. Mild tremor rerun strikes panic

GUWAHATI: A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck massive panic in Assam early in the morning on Saturday. Originated at Gauripur in Dhubri, the tremor jolted the entire state at 6.45 in the morning forcing many people in the high rise buildings in the urban areas to come down to the open space. There is,however, no report of any casualty or loss of property. Season of foundation stones in BTAD

Gold biscuits seized in Guwahati airport

GUWAHATI: Security forces seized gold weighing nearly 1 KG from a person at the Lokoriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on Friday. Acting on a tip off, the CISF jawans raided Ankush Chetti who was preparing to depart the city to New Delhi by the IndiGo flight in the morning. When thoroughly checked, the gold biscuits worth ₹30 lakh was discovered in his rectum. He was arrested and the biscuits were recovered at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital. Two days back another person was arrested from the airport as he was preparing to board on a New Delhi bound flight.
