Dissidence rattles ruling Congress

A resurfacing dissidence seems to have put Congress in a fix. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is flying to New Delhi to apprise the party high command of the entire situation on Friday amid speculation of a preparation for cabinet reshuffle.
At least 24 Congress legislators participated in the closed-door meeting, which was held at the MLA hostel in Dispur on Wednesday night. The meeting was held at MLA hostel where at least 24 Congress legislators have demanded to change in the leadership of Assam Congress legislators.
In yet another development, AICC general secretary in charge of Assam affairs Digvijaya Singh has put the role of a satellite news channel under scanner in view of alleged anti party activities. Notably, around 30 MLAs, ministers and senior Congress leaders held a secret meet at Chandan Sarkar’s residence of on Wednesday night where they allegedly prepared a blueprint to go all out against Gogoi.

According to sources, the Congress legislators prepared a memorandum addressed to Congress president Sonia Gandhi against Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. The dissident Congress MLAs have stood up hours after Gogoi said that if was ready to quit even if 5 MLAs want him to do so.
