20 injured in lathicharge

At least 20 people have been injured in Biswanath in Sonitpur district on Wednesday when security forces sprang upon a group of protesters who blocked the road in protest against a road mishap that left one person injured.

The incident took place at 3 in the afternoon at Borgang area where local residents in large number blocked the road for three hours a speeding vehicle knocked down a person. He was rushed to the hospital

But the local residents started squatting on the road to register protest against the mishap. After repeated appeal by the magistrate to clear the road, the protesters refused to do it.

A section of the protestors pelted stones at the policemen forcing them to start lathicharge where at least 20 people have been injured.
