BJP panel quizzes Phukan

A three member BJP panel set up to probe the voting anomalies in the Rajya Sabha polls quizzed party legislator Prasanta Phukan to unearth the truth.  

Led by former legislator Mison Ranjan Das, the panel quizzed the legislature party leader at the Assembly chamber for around three hours on Thursday.

The panel members asked Phukan what forced him to insert the ballot paper into the box without getting it checked by the concerned agent on duty in the Rajya Sabha polls last week.

The party leadership consider it a violation of party whip issued a few days before the polls. Four other legislators have already cleared their positions that they did get their papers checked by the party agents before inserting the papers into the box.

Phukan, has already written to the state election officer urging him to make his ballot paper public.
