Banks, buisiness establishments remained closed during the period. The bandh supporters resorted to hooliganism by burning tyres and damaging four wheelers and trucks at Tangla and Kalaigaon. A noted citizen of the town resenting the bandh culture said ," The BJP which came to power in New Delhi and in the state promising to resolve the ST status issue of the six communities have been postponing the issue. The six communities under the banner of Soi Jonogusthi Oikyo Manch have been organising strikes since 2016 which have been affecting the common people the most.
