Singer Angarag Mahanta had sustained minor injury when some unidentified miscreants targeted him with stone in Dhemaji on Wednesday.
The incident took place when miscreants pelted stones at him as he was performing at a stage in a Bihu function in Gogamukh in the midnight.
Eyewitnesses told Assam Times all the audiences were enjoying when the youth heartthrob was performing bihu and modern songs one after another.
But suddenly somebody from the side of the audience pelted a piece of stone at him which fell on his head.
Then the singer halted and stopped the programmme. The organizers, however, told Assam Times that the injury was minor.
Meanwhile, the incident of attack on Mahanta has drawn sharp reaction from across the state. The people of all sections of the society condemned the attack and called it uncultured.
Immediately after the attack, Mahanta said that he was very shocked to be attacked by the miscreants. The organizing committee members and the audience squarely condemned the incident.
