The Brihottar Asomiya Youva Mancha in Nazira burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday in protest against his recent circular on the official language.
Led by BAYM president Ranjan Mahanta, over 200 activists thronged the Nazira town and burnt Gogoi effigy apart from shouting slogans against the government.

Veteran Congress leader in Nazira Tonkeshwar Saikia breath his last at his own residence of Nazira Simaluguri on Thursday. He was 81 and survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter.
