The emergence of three new political parties is likely to mar the existing poll prospect of the opposition parties if the poll experts are to be believed.
Poll experts told Assam Times that LDP, GMSS and AAP would divide the anti-Congress votes where AGP and BJP would be the worst sufferers.
“AGP and BJP are worried over the poll prospects after the emergence of AAP, LDP and GMSS. All the three parties are likely to pull anti-Congress votes in the assembly polls early next year,” said Ranjit Saikia, a poll expert in Guwhati.
According to Saikia, “AAP will woo the young generation voters while the Akhil Gogoi-led government will woo the countrymen. Over the years, these votes have been percolating benefit for AGP. That’s why, GMSS is a big challenge for AGP.”
Dr GC Das, a political expert told Assam Times that LDP would lure a considerable chunk of voters in the urban areas. These voters are not averse to BJP in power. They are interested in LDP led by former BJP leader Pradyut Bora. “BJP has reasons to be worried over its poll prospect. Panchayat poll prospect has hardly any reflection in the assembly or parliamentary polls,”said Dr Das.
“Apart from the young voters, a considerable number of AGP and BJP supporters are likely to go with the Aam Admi Party in search of change in the political landscape,” said Deepa Dey, a student of JNU in Delhi who has been doing extensive studies on the election.
Another poll expert AK Bora has predicted poll prospect for the ruling Congress. He said,” the division in the anti Congress votes would be a great advantage for Congress to retain power for the fourth consecutive terms.
