Gopalakrishnan receives Hazarika Award

Adoor Gopalakrishnan received the Bishwaratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika International Solidarity Award 2015 on Sunday.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Asam Sahitya Sabha president Dr Dhurbajyoti Bora gave away the award to the veteran filmmaker at a glittering function at Rabindra Bhawan in the evening.

In his address said that the State government would soon institute an international universal brotherhood award in the name of the Bard of the Brahmaputra

After receiving the award, the film maker said Assam and Kerala are emotionally attached to each other.

Instituted by the Asam Sahitya Sabha and sponsored by the Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), the award carries a memento, a citation, an eri chador, a collection of books and a cheque of Rs 5 lakh.
