Programme on safe drinking water
An awareness programmee on pure and safe drinking water for good health was organized by the extension education service cell in collaboration with the IQAC,Kokrajhar Government College at Harinaguri High School auditorium hall in Kokrajhar on Friday.Co-ordinator of the awareness programmee and Lecturer Kokrajhar Government College Sikhna Jhon Wary addressing the gathering said that the awareness programmee was organized to bring awareness among the common people about water born diseases. Former Joint Director,Health Services, Dr.Mansingh Narzary, Kokrajhar was the chief speaker in the programme. The programme saw the attendance of various school functionaries, students and commoners including the Harinaguri High School Management Committee chairman Hariprasad Sarma, Vice Principal, Kokrajhar Govt.College, P.Chakraborty along with the teaching staff and several village heads.

At least four persons sustained serious injury when the vehicle carrying them met with a road mishap in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday.The accident took place at Srirampur in the morning. A cultivator died and two others sustained serious injury when lightning struck three different parts of Kokrajhar district on Tuesday.The first incident took place in Salani Bhatabari near Dotma where Suren Roy died at his field along with his two bullocks.In the second incident, Seven Brahma of Daloabari was seriously injured near his home. He is battling for life at the Rupnath Brahma Civil hospital.In yet another incident Abul Ali Sheikh of Monakocha village under Fakirgaram PS was also sustained serious injury while one of his bullocks died. Ali is undergoing treatment at the RNB Civil hospital in Kokrajhar.
Security forces claimed to have caught a dreaded NDFB-S militant in Kokrajhar on Tuesday.He was caught during a joint operation by army and police in Surenderpur Ghat area of Gossaigaon.According to reports, he was a 2011 batch trained NDFB(S) cadre.Two hand grenades along with some 7.65mm ammunition were also seized from him.

The National Investigation Agency has chargesheeted four hardcore NDFB-S militants in the gory Adivasi carnage in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts . In its chargesheet filed before a special court in Guwahati on Monday, NIA has named Ajay Basumatary alias B Buhum alias Birkhang Basumatary, Dilip Basumatary alias B Birbaisha alias Birbhai alias Lambu, Khamrei Basumatary alias B Udla alias Urla and Nitul Daimary alias D Naihab alias Naihab.Of them, three have been languishing in jail after they were caught in Kohima. The fourth one was arrested in Biswanath Chariali area.At least 30 people were killed in a series of simultaneous attack in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts on December 23.
