Gogoi, Dutta meet high command

A pending cabinet reshuffle is expected to figure in a crucial meeting of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi with the party high command in New Delhi Tuesday.

Sources told Assam Times in the capital that Gogoi is scheduled to meet AICC general secretary Dr CP Joshi in presence of state Congress president Anjan Dutta.

“Dr Joshi’s meeting with Gogoi and Dutta is scheduled at 10 in the morning at the AICC headquarters. It would be a very brief sitting which is expected to confine only to the proposed cabinet reshuffle. The chief minister is set to seek seal of approval to his proposal for cabinet expansion,” said a senior APCC leader. 

The meeting would be followed by the chief ministers’ conference to be chaired by party president Sonia Gandhi.

Clause VI panel feels let down, report sent to department

New Delhi: In a major setback for the BJP-led coalition government in the state,  the Centre is unlikely to endorse the recommendations of the panel set up to suggest the implementation of the Clause VI of the Assam Accord,  1985.
