Stage set for charity soccer

The city based media persons and performing artistes have prepared for a friendly football match to generate funds for the flood affected families of Assam. The charity soccer match, scheduled for Saturday (26 September 2015) at Nehru Stadium, Ulubari, Guwahati, will kick off at 6 in the evening.

Senior journalist Pranay Bordoloi will lead the Media XI, where as popular singer Zubeen Garg will be the captain of the Artistes Eleven. The media team also comprises Atanu Bhuyan (VC & Goal Keeper), Piter Alex (VC), Kishor Talukder (GK), Debashis Mandal, Niloy Bhattacharya, Amarendra Deka, Sunil Bora, Dasarath Deka, Pitambar Newar, Banajit Bhuyan, Naba Pegu, Dhruba Mahanta, Gautam Sarma, Siddhartha Sankar Deka, Dhiren Sarma, Hitesh Deka, Anupam Chakrabarty, Tibra Bairagi, Prasanta Dutta, Kumud Talukder, Partha Chakrabarty, Vicky Das and Sibanu Bora.

Formulated by the Electronic Media Forum Assam with the inclusion of media persons from both the print & electronic media, the Media XI has Subodh Malla Barua as the coacher and Nava Thakuria as the team manager. The media team has already joined in regular practice sessions at Judges Field in morning hours.

On the other hand, the artists and technician’s team will also include Partha Pratim Goswami, Pradhan Deori, Sasanka Samir, Mahadev Deka, Shekhar Goswami, Achinta Shankar, Pabitra Rabha, Rohit Sonar, Hemanta Gogoi, Shiddharth Sarma, Bhaskar Dutta, Hitesh Gogoi, Manash Phukan, Dhanjeet Kalita and Bhabesh.

The city based Dispur Hospitals will extend the emergency medical supports to the players. Meanwhile, the State based artists and technician’s forum has urged everyone to contribute financial aid for thousands of flood affected families in Assam through Kalaguru Artiste Foundation (ICICI Bank, Ganeshguri branch, Account no: 215101000145, IFSC code: ICICI0002151).

Marital arts training

The Kickboxing Association of Bodoland Territorial Council is going to start a martial arts and self defense training camp in Kokrajhar to impart training.

Nripendra Chandra Roy, president of the association while addressing the Press Conference at Kokrajhar Press Club on Monday told that the association will organise a training camp from June 20 next to impart training among coming up generation nad citizens at Titaguri Irakdao community hall in Kokrajhar. He said  that the martial arts and self defense is very much required in today’s era as human life becoming very risky.

The association has been organising self defense camp in various schools in BTAD region since few years where girl/women were imparted training on self defense to protect herself from critical situation while arises, Roy said.

 

Letters to Modi for separate state for Bodos

The All Bodo Students Union ( ABSU) has again reiterated it's demand of creation of separate Bodoland state curving of Assam and in a significant symbolic step of demands despatch mass letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking early creation of Bodoland state through Post Office today in Kokrajhar. 

Thousands of student activitists and common publics thronged the Kokrajhar Post Office and despacthed postal letters to the PM urging early creation and held permanent solution of the long standing demand of Bodoland issue. 

Former Rajya Sabha MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Lawrence Islary, general secretary of the Absu, Jatirindra Brahm, BTC MCLA among others despatched letters to PM Modi seeking early creationof Bodoland state. 

The Absu claimed that over 3 lakhs of mass letters are despatch to the PM from various districts of the state including Kokrajhar seeking district has 50 thousand letters on support demand early creation of Bodoland state through political dialogue involving home minister of India in the ensuing parliamentary session and held permanent peace and integration. 

Lawrence Islary, general secretary of the Absu reiterates that the students union and common peoples of the state demanding early solution of long standing demand of Bodoland state. He has expressed his hopeful that PM Modi will look after the letters that are being despatch on the issue of Bodoland state as he is supervision all letters sent from various parts of the country. 

Former MP Brahma has urged the PM Modi and centre to take bold step to create separate Bodoland state in the state. He said that mass letter sending is a medium of seeking democratic rights in the country. 

Peoples from all walks of life including college student, social organisation leader, Absu leaders despatch letters to the PM Modi in huge gathering in Kokrajhar. 

Mentioned be made that Absu had submitted first mass letters to PM of India Dr Manmohan Singh, the then USA govt in 2010 seeking early creation of separate Bodoland state in Assam. 

Operation to nab Chirang bombers

Security forces are fanning in Chirang district in search of the youths who exploded two grenades in the district on Sunday.

A massive search operation is underway to nab the culprits.

Top police and civil officials of the district administration rushed to the spot and reviewed the situation.

Unidentified militants struck again in the area leaving three people injured on Sunday in Chirang distrcit.

Three people sustained serious injury when some unidentified miscreants lobbed a grenade in Bijni in the afternoon.

Three motorcycle borne youths lobbed a grenade near Bolanguri bus stand at Kuklun Road area where three persons were left critically injured as they were working at a garage.


Identified as Palan Mandal, Sujannam Das and Sujan Arya, the trio have been rushed to the hospital in a critical condition.

A huge explosion rocked Chirang district on Sunday forcing security forces to step in.

The incident took place near No 2 Bhetgaon area ten minutes after the Bijni town explosion where three workers sustained injury. But nobody was injured in the explosion.
