The General Observer Priyatu Mandal arrived in Chirang district on Monday to monitor the electioneering process in 31- Sidli (ST) LAC which goes to poll on April 11.

Mandal, minutely took stock of over all poll preparedness in the district today which included managemet of manpower, activities of flying squads, maintenance of law and order, installation of helpline and complaint monitoring cell, transportation, training on EVM and training to polling personnel including awareness activities under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP). He personally  inspected the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) Cell and Expenditure Monitoring Cell (EMC) at District Centre. He has asked the MCMC cell to constantly monitor and check the surrogate advertisements or paid news in the TV channels and News papers.The General Observer strictly instructed all to implement Model Code of Conduct putting all efforts to ensure free and fare poll in a transference manner. He also appealed to all political parties, contesting candidates and general public from constituency to contact him at 09418018822 for any quires and complaints regarding any election related matters.

Five NDFB-R members join BPF

Five more NDFB-Ranjan Daimary faction members joined BPF on Monday. They  include a seargent major who joined the regional party at a programme held at Bodoland Guest House in Kokrajhar.  They are Hitun Narzary(seargent major), Nerswn Narzary, Ripok Narzary, Abhimanya Boro and Gwmjwr Narzary. Bodo organizations stick to Bodoland

Bodos remember Bineswar Brahma

The Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) remembered Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma, former president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, paying floral tribute at burial place o his 17th death anniversary  in Kokrajhar on Saturday. Brahma was shot dead by armed extremist at his Bhetapara residence in Guwahati on 19th August in 2000 when he was president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha. Two bodies recovered

Two accidental deaths in two different places sent no less shock in Kojrajhar on Friday. The first one took place at Islampur where a woman  was  electrocuted to death.     According to police, one Rashida Bibi (35) wife of  Wajj Ali of Islampur village Kazigaon in Kokrajhar district died of electricution.The incident took place around 5:30 am in the morning as she went to the nearby electric post where she has been electrocuted.  In separate incident in Chirang, a body was found floating on the Champawati River at Basugaon of Chirang district. Appointment letters distributed

Altogether 80 teachers  received appointment letters for the post of headteacher and assistant headteacher in High Schools at a programme held at BTC secretariat conference hall in Kokrajhar in Friday. The appointment letter was issued by education department of BTC. Seventy three was appointed as headteacher and seven are as assistant headteacher in the four districts of BTAD. Biren Chandra Phukon BTC principal secretary, Rabishangkhar Borgoyary,BTC education director, Rabinson Mushahary, BTC secretary attended the function.  

Relief materials distributed

Many student bodies in Kokrajhar took out a huge rally in Friday demanding CBI probe into the killing of Lafikul Islam Ahmed which took place 18 days ago. Many students participated in the rally organised by All BTC Minority Students’ Union(ABMSU) who came from far flung areas of BTAD areas. Post flood watery grave for 5

 A pall of gloom descends in Kokrajhar when five children met watery grave in the district in the post flood scene during that last 24 hours.  All the minor boys  were drowned in two different villages in Gosaaigaon circle . They drowned at their nearby different ponds within 24-hours since Wednesday.  They have been identified as Afruja Kathun, Fatema Kathun, Jiyarul Ali, Rejina Kathun and Manjuma Kathun.
