Assam Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma after taking oath of minister in the state government on May 24 last, paid floral tribute to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, former president of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) on Saturday at Dotma Thulungapuri in Kokrajhar district along with her party leader colleagues.

Brahma, a teacher turned politician, was stepped in politics under encouraged of Bodofa UN Brahma in 1991 and since then she has been electing as MLA and with 2016 election’s win she has recorded six straight consecutive time from Kokrajhar east constituency defaeting her nearest contestant in huge margin.

Bodofa UN Brahma, who had led strong mass movement for the cause of separate Bodoland separate state, justice to the down trodden communities in the state and dedicated his whole life towards development and social uplift among all sections of communities.

Brahma recalled UN Brahma that Bodofa was a leader of visionary and dreamt of formation for master-race community in the world through which today Bodos reached in today’s stage. She has remembered contribution and dedication of Bodofa, towards united building among all sections of the communities and regarded as torch bearer of Bodos and other down trodden communities. She said that Bodofa UN Brahma was her role model in political field entry because she was first elected under the blessed of Bodofa in 1991.On the other hand, BPF party leader,member and wel wishers greeted Minister Brahma with flower, bouckey and traditional Aronai,Phulam gamocha at Debargaon, Balajan Tinali, Dotma, Aflgaon, Fakiragram in the district. Brahma said that she has been taking stern step to protect one-horned rhino and forests in the state.Forest protection and rhino safeguard was the prime job of her ministry. She said that atleast 10 illegall forest check gates have been withdrawn to meet healthy administration across the state.She said that no any unwanted incident like deforestation and rhino killing would not be tolerates at any cost in the sate.

Brahma said, “We have witdhrew 10 forest check gates in the state and expected the state government will be look better in coming days. Forest conservation and rhino would be protected at any cost in the state and poaching on wild animals would be stopped”.

Pollution testing centre seized

Police arrested two persons on Thursday, who are involved with illegally distributing pollution certificate  without any vehicles for few years in Kokrajhar district. Police  raided the immission testing centre,owned by Samir Bhattacharya in Kokrajhar town along JD Road near Ramkrishnapur. People alleged that the centre sells pollution testing certificates to  vehicle owners against huge money without proper testing.  

Railway carries out eviction drive

Railway department official in association with Kokrajhar police administration carried out eviction drive against the illegally occupying of railway land near rail station in Kokrajhar today. At least 27 houses were dismantled in the eviction that was carried out to cleared up rail land along railway track west of Kokrajhar station. Peoples,who were evicted said that they have been evicted without prior nitice today.They have been living along the railway lands since few years,but today face eviction situation. 'Illegally settling along rail lands would be evicted as per rules of the department to cleaned up rail tracks', said a senior officer fron Alipur Duar Rail division.

Bathou is aboriginal religion of Bodos: Mohilary

BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary said the Bathou is the aboriginal religion of Bodos through which Bodo community could be identified in the world. The All Bathou Religious Union observed Gwthar Bathou San (Pabitra Bathou Divos) with two-day programme scheduled at Baganshali Bathou Thansali in Kokrajhar on Tuesday in Kokrajhar. Three ultras held

Security forces apprehended three NDFB-S cadres from Taisoguri under Runikhata PS on Chirang district today.  Based on inputs about presence of the militant cadres in tgd area, a joint team of police abd army carried out a search operation and apprehended the cadres at a house if Prahalad Mushahary where they were hiding.They were identified as Dakaru Mushahary, Kapilau Basunatary and Birjay Mushahary.   A 7.65 mm pistol, two magazines, a country made pistol, two grenades, four round ammunitions were recovered from them.

Mountaineering team left for Sandakphu

A mountaineering team from Bodoland left for high altitude trekking practice on Sandakphu-2017  under mission   Bodoland on Mount Everest-2019. Bibekananda Choudhury, Kokrajhar deputy commissioner flagged of the team for Sandakphu. The team comprising of 35 members,included four instructors from four districts of BTAD, which was organized by Adventure NGO, Kokrajhar in association with Assam Mountaineering Association. The 9th binniel conference of BTC Region All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU) begins today with two day programme scheduled at Bodofa Cultural complex in Kokrajhar. ABSU to move HC for textbooks

 The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has warned to file writ petition in high court seeking proper educational rights.  The students union slammed state government and Assembly state textbook production and publication corporation for delayed supply and shortages textbooks for Bodo medium schools in the state. Bodo medium schools still today have been facing 35% shortages of textbooks  in their curriculum.  Three passenger buses were detected by sale taxes official and staffs in a search operation along the 31C national high way this morning at Patgaon in Kokrajhar district today.
