NDFB (S) informer held

Police apprehended a suspected over ground worker/sympathizer of NDFB-S identified as Paulina Basumatary 22, wife of a NDFB-S cadre Compounder alias Khaose from No 1 Nandipur village under Kachugaon police station in Kokrajhar district .

Police said Rs 15,000 (extorted from Audung Bazar area) have been recovered from her possession which was supposed to be handed over to NDB-S cadre.

She was working as a channel of communication between the NDFB-S cadres and over ground worker in that area through her husband. She has been playing a very important role in siphoning off extortion money to the outfit in Myanmar through the OGWs/sympathisers.

FCI godown in Kokrajhar under water

The current flood wave is learnt to have damaged a huge quantity of rice to the tune of 1000 quintal, stored at the Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown in Kokrajhar.There seems to be no respite in the flood wave which brings brimful misery to the people in the BTAD areas. More rainfall keeps the rivers swelling till Friday and the surging waters have submerged more areas on every passing day. The road communication along the JD Road in Kokrajhar town remains heavily disrupted for flood along with many residential areas. Ultimatum on Lafikul killing probe

Many parties, organizations and individuals have been demanding speedy probe into the killing of Lafikul Islam Ahmed to put the culprits behind the bars. Student unions in Kokrajhar have threatened to intensify agitation against government if justice is not delivered delayed by August 15. Former rebels behind Lafikul killing!

Former Assam Minister Siddique Ali Ahmed expresses suspects the role of rebels in ceasefire behind the killing of Lafikul Islam Ahmed. But the Congress leader refused to name the rebels who killed the ABMSU leader in Kokrajhar. Siddique told reporters when he visited Ahmed’s bereaved family members on Thursday. Relief for Lafikul's family

 The Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC )  on Tuesday issued appointment letter to his younger brother and sister of Lafikul Ahmed who was killed by unidentified miscreants a couple of weeks back in Kokrajhar. Gogoi visits Salakati

Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi lashed-ouit at the BJP-led state government for their failure to provide safety and security to people of the state. He demanded CBI inquiry into the Lafikul killing. Gogoi on Monday visited Salakati residence of ABMSU president Lafikul Islam Ahmed, who was shot dead by unidentified armed miscreants on August 1 at Titaguri bazaar. Pouring of political leaders are continuing at the Salakati after the killing of ABMSU President Lafikul Islam Ahmed who was shot dead by unidentified armed miscreants at Titaguri bazar in Kokrajhar on August 1 last. 16 injured in lightning

At least sixteen persons received serious injuries due to lightening at two different villages under Gurubasha police outpost in Chirang district late last evening. According to source from the area, sixteen persons received injuries for heavy thunder and lightning yesterday afternoon. The injures were immediately rushed the JSB Hospital, Kajalgaon, who were road construction labors nearby Gurubasha in Chirang district. Two of them are said to be critical.

AGP, BPF want two berths each

The alliance partners in the BJP-led government at Dispur, Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) have demanded two ministerial berths each in the forthcoming cabinet ministry expansion in the state that will be taking place by August 15. Students leader shot dead

The All Bodoland Minority Students’ Union President, Lafikul Islam Ahmed was shot dead Tuesday evening at Titaguri bazaar in Kokrajhar. The incident took place at about 4:30 pm when two helmet bearing armed miscreants on a bike shot at Ahmed from point blank range when he was in a tiles shop. In the indiscriminate firing that ensued a staff of the shop sustained two bullet injuries.
