The Biswanath police have arrested two people on Saturday a day after the duo alleged to have attacked two neighbours for opposing to slaughter cattle nearby. Identified as Ahmed Ali, the local resident of a remote village and his associate were arrested by police acting on a complaint lodged by Bhadheswari Goswami and Bharati Malik whom he attacked with sharp weapons when they asked him not to slaughter cattle at his home. Then Ahmed with one of his associates attacked the women triggering a huge clash on Friday forcing the district administration to step in to bring the situation under control. According to the local residents, the Ahmed did slaughter cattle at his own home till the other day. But they have started the practice cow only after the controversy much to the anger of the non Muslim neighbours. The neighbours only asked them to slaughter cattle somewhere else and not inside his house premises which triggered the clash.
