SSB distributes furniture and computer to schools
In an effort to uplift the border populace 37 Battalion SSB deployed at Indo-Bhutan Border distributed furniture and computers to three different schools. SSB also gave a face lift to these schools by renovating the existing infrastructure by construction of brick wall and flooring. This was stated in a press statement from the office of 37 Bn SSB,Mangaldai.. A concluding day programme was also held on Sunday where the Panery MLA Kamali Basumatari appreciated the efforts of SSB and said that because of the presence of SSB the security scenario of the area has improved. DIG SSB A.K. Mallik also addressed the students and villagers on the occasion and exhorted the public to emphasis on the education of the students and cleanliness.Commandant 37 Bn Sh Rohitashwa assured the public that efforts being done by SSB will continue in future also.SSB also organised a medical and veterinary civic action (MCA/VCA) programme at Navajyoti M.E. UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.
AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two others for not wearing masks.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.
The house belongs to Fakira Ansari, Manik Ali,Bhim Ram,Raj Kumar Prasad,Akon Rabha and Sankar Basfor.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.
