Disrupting leopard killed, consumed in Namrup

NAMRUP:A section of people in a remote hamlet in Namrup killed a leopard hours after it killed a lady and hurt 3 others in a series of attack on Friday morning. Not only that after lynching, the villagers cut the animal into pieces in full view of the forest officials. Then they  claimed to have consumed it triggering widespread anger among the animal lovers.

These disturbing incidents took place in Majkopihuwa goan and Asomiya Gaon where the local villagers in large number chased the leopard after it killed Maikon Gogoi and injuring three others in s series of attacks in the morning.

The animal then was beaten up to death. A section of them cut it into pieces to vanished. Some of them later claimed to have consumer it which needs to be probed.

The reason why the leopard attacked people is not mentioned. A leopard won't just go on an attack spree. I would assume that these would have been either chance encounters or the leopard retaliating when provoked

Jorhat police begins probe into the road mishap that left 70 people in Teok when a passenger bus met with a mishap on Monday. Preliminary investigation suggests it a case of over speeding which was why the driver lost his control over the over loaded bus on its way from Barpeta to Tinsukia.Seventy workers were injured when an over-crowded bus carrying them fell into a ditch on the NH-37. Ten of them are battling for life at the Jorhat Medical College Hospital. According to police, all the passengers were labourers and they were transported for some construction work in Tinsukia.
The 1000 hour bandh has evoked mixed response in Dima Hasao district on Monday. Vehicles are normally plying on the roads in the hills district. Shops and markets, mostly, are running business. Nagaland expressed grave concern over the 1000-hour Karbi Anglong bandh beginning from Monday apprehending that it would disrupt the normal life in the neighbouring state. The toll in tragic road mishap near Nagaon mounts to 9 with two more people succumbed to injuries on Sunday morning. Twenty five others have been battling for life at the Nagaon Civil Hospital.
