TEZPUR: The Rongjuli incident seems to have taken a new turn with the revelations the displaced people have been keen to stay with Meghalaya. According to information, since they decided to stay in the side of Meghalaya they did not feel it necessary to apply for NRC.

SC junks PIL opposes 'indiscriminate' deportations

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday declined to accept a plea by All BTC Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU) raising concerns over the state’s “indiscriminate” move to detain and deport suspected foreigners. A Bench of the top court comprising Justices Sanjay Karol and Satish Chandra Sharma asked ABMSU to move the the Gauhati High Court.
